What Makes Industrial Treasures Different
Industrial Treasures didn't start as a retail concept. It started in the field, inside factories, commercial buildings, research facilities, and estates, long before a single item hit the sales floor.
That origin shapes everything you'll find here.
Built from Decades of Real-World Sourcing
Most vintage stores are built from auctions, estate sales, and dealer networks. Industrial Treasures grew from something different: years of hands-on commercial and industrial liquidation work across the Chicago area and beyond.
That sourcing work grew out of more than 35 years of industrial equipment experience under our former business name, Dewell and Dewell, serving the Fox Valley area since 1986.
That work took us into some remarkable places. One of the most memorable was Wesley Jessen, the pioneering contact lens manufacturer headquartered at 400 West Superior in Chicago. Over the course of several liquidations, first at their Chicago facility and then continuing at their Des Plaines location, we helped them clear out decades of accumulated inventory: laboratory equipment, optical gear, office furniture, and original artwork. It was the kind of sourcing opportunity that simply doesn't come from a catalog.
Wesley Jessen was one chapter. Over the years, Industrial Treasures has worked with finance and leasing companies, insurance firms, and corporations of all sizes. Each project uncovered a different layer of history, equipment, and design.
That accumulated experience is why our inventory looks the way it does. You won't find it anywhere else because it didn't come from anywhere else.
More Than a Vintage Store
Industrial Treasures brings together an unusually wide range of inventory under one roof. Vintage furniture, industrial antiques, architectural salvage, artwork, lighting, electronics, collectibles, tools, books, and one-of-a-kind items that resist easy categorization.
Some pieces are functional. Some are purely decorative. Many are both. All of them have a story.
A Constantly Changing Selection
This is not a static showroom. Inventory shifts frequently, sometimes dramatically, depending on what has come in from recent sourcing. Items arrive from different sources, in different quantities, at unpredictable times.
New items come in regularly. If you haven't visited in a while, there is always something you haven't seen before.
Character Over Trends
Industrial Treasures is not trend-driven. We don't curate around a specific aesthetic or stock items because they are popular right now. What we value is craftsmanship, age, patina, and real design integrity.
Many of the industrial antiques and vintage pieces we carry were built to last and have already spent decades proving it. If you are looking for something with presence and history rather than something that looks like everything else, this is your kind of store.
Objects with Purpose and Possibility
Part of what draws people to industrial antiques and architectural salvage is the potential they carry. A factory workbench becomes a kitchen island. A set of industrial pendant lights becomes the defining feature of a room. Reclaimed materials find new life in ways their original makers never imagined.
We enjoy that part of it. If you come in with a project or an idea, we are happy to think through it with you.
An Experience Worth Making the Trip For
Industrial Treasures is designed to be explored. Customers regularly spend time walking the space, discovering pieces they didn't expect to find, and leaving with ideas they didn't arrive with.
If you prefer predictable, polished retail, this probably isn't your store.
If you are drawn to history, craftsmanship, and originality and you enjoy the hunt, you will feel right at home.
