A rare opportunity to acquire three original oil and airbrush paintings by Carl Hayano (1934-2018), offered together as a complete collection.

The three works -- "Maguro" (1977), "Holy Mackerel" (1978-79), and "Sweet and Sour Pork" (1979) -- were completed during one of the most productive periods of Hayano's career, went on tour in 1988, and remained wrapped in storage from that point until arriving at Industrial Treasures. They have not been publicly displayed in over 35 years.

All three titles draw from Hayano's food-themed series, weaving Japanese and Chinese culinary references through rigorous geometric abstraction with characteristic dry wit. The paintings share a visual language -- dense, grid-like compositions executed in oil and airbrush, layered with mathematical precision -- while each standing as a fully realized work in its own right. Displayed together, as they are currently hanging at Industrial Treasures, they form a cohesive and visually commanding installation.

Maguro (1977)
Approximately 63" x 54.5" framed. The largest and most commanding of the three works. Signed "Hayano '77" with red chop mark. Titled in pencil at lower left.

Holy Mackerel (1978-79)
Approximately 41" x 39.5" framed. The verso bears a handwritten inscription in the artist's own hand: his name, DeKalb address, phone number, date, and title. Direct artist provenance.

Sweet and Sour Pork (1979)
Approximately 41" x 39.5" framed. Signed "Hayano '79" with red chop mark. Titled in pencil at lower left.
All three paintings are in very good condition. Minor foxing consistent with age and storage history, most visible in the canvas margins. The painted surfaces are unaffected and the works present beautifully.

The individual works are also available separately -- Maguro at $8,500, Holy Mackerel at $3,500, and Sweet and Sour Pork at $3,500. The consignor's preference is to place the complete collection together.
